Rayner Intra Ocular Lenses

The intraocular lenses (IOL) from Rayner - newly introduced to Australia - can be welcomed by both surgeons and patients, allowing enhancement to cataract surgery, and offering patients significant clinical and long-term advantages.

With an IOL the magic of sight returns. Light, colours and form that were dull and vague become fresh and sharp; quality of life is transformed as a faded and obscured world is made clear.

Rayner C-flex™ (570C) Rayacryl IOL:

Rayner’s lenses are the first European IOLs to get TGA approval in over a decade. Designs for Vision has introduced Rayner’s IOL into the market with the C-flex™ injectable acrylic IOL system.

  • Unique Enhanced Square Edge™ optics for reduced PCO
  • Overall length of 12.0mm and an optic diameter of 5.75mm
  • All the advantages of Rayacryl™: such as biocompatibility, low PCO and low Silicone Oil affinity.
  • Available from +8.0 to +30.0 Dioptres in 0.5D steps. +30D to +34D in 1D steps
  • C-flex™ lenses are supplied in a 0.9% saline solution in a blister pack terminally sterilised with moist heat -ready to be opened under aseptic conditions in the Operating Room

AVH™ TECHNOLOGY- Anti-vaulting Haptic Technology
Perfect centration and zero vaulting: giving superbly predictable and sustained visual results. C-flex™ (570C) injectable Rayacryl™ IOLs have anti-vaulting haptics, developed to provide maximum lens stability and centration.

Soon after implantation, the haptics compress progressively in response to capsular contraction. In cases of asymmetric or excessive contraction, this response provides sufficient resistance in the lens to prevent vaulting or tilting of the optic. The outer and inner loops "lock" onto themselves, creating new bending fulcra. This action prevents dislocation due to buckling or twisting of the haptics.

The new technology is already approved and widely used in Europe, Middle East, Asia, South America and South Africa. The convenient combination of eye-shield, injector and lens all in the one pack has proved a success for Rayner elsewhere in the world - and the IOL system is now available in Australia.

T-flex Toric IOL

The T-flex™ Toric IOL is a superior alternative to toric IOLs with restricted range of torus and a precise alternative to incisional correction of corneal astigmatism.

By incorporating a torus (cylindrical correction) on the anterior spherical optic surface, the Rayner T-flex™ Toric IOL provides a superior, reliable alternative to incisional keratotomy and Limbal Relaxing Incisions (LRIs) for the treatment of pre-existing corneal astigmatism.

The T-flex™ Toric IOL is particularly useful for those cataract patients where incisional methods would provide inadequate astigmatic correction. The choice of a T-flex™ Toric IOL leads to more precise surgical results, especially for cases of severe astigmatism: patients with a history of corneal pathology, keratoconus with penetrating keratoplasty (corneal grafts) and patients with burns and corneal scarring.

Rayner Sulcoflex® Pseudophakic Supplementary IOLs

Rayner Sulcoflex® Pseudophakic Supplementary IOLs are designed to correct any post-surgical or residual ametropia, without the trauma, or increased surgical risk, of an IOL exchange.

Moreover, unlike with conventional "piggy-back" IOL implantations, the unique design of Rayner Sulcoflex® Pseudophakic Supplementary IOLs ensures that the potential for contact between the two implants is minimised. This reduces the likelihood of induced refractive error and optical aberrations due to optic surface distortion at the area of contact between the IOLs.

Rayner Sulcoflex® Pseudophakic Supplementary IOLs are manufactured from Rayner’s proprietary hydrophilic acrylic co-polymer, Rayacryl®, which is noted for its exceptional uveal biocompatibility – a factor so important in those IOLs specifically intended for ciliary sulcus fixation. Rayacryl® is also noted for its superb optical clarity, with no vacuoles or glistenings.

These factors, coupled with a remarkably low silicone oil adherence and excellent handling characteristics, means that Rayacryl® represents the ideal in IOL biomaterials.
